I hope it was worth the wait.

I guess it qualifies as an Ikea hack.

I have a free standing spool holder which is excellent but what I like about this is the fact that it hangs (leaving valuable shelf/table space free for more clutter).

You can see the evolution of the idea if you like…

spool rack + surplus pencils + bargain threads = something I’m proud of

I’m thinking about making these in smaller sizes & maybe hosting another HAC workshop.

    This is awesome. Knowing me, I'd poke myself with the pencils all the time, but that's just my own fault for being clumsy. I love, love this idea. It's creative, functional, AND beautiful!

    Spool Holder Art, that. Thank goodness you have 29 spools of thread and can interchange (maintaining the arty look) even while you sew.

    Fun, I love it! I wonder how many times you'll need to go to Grill'd for enough pencils for the HAC girls though?!
    The best bit is, the pencils look long enough to hold a same-coloured bobbin, are they?

    Ooops sorry…yes you probably could fit a bobbin on as well but you'd need to whittle even more & that might compromise the strength? x
