My creative space...

Creative Space Record

I managed to tear myself away from the sticks last night.

I stitched away under the romantic glare of the headtorch (a must-have tool for anyone serious about their craft).

I'm hoping to finish up the stitching today & get on with the making up (& back to the sticks).

Visit last weeks favourite space here.

Don't forget to pop in & add your link if you're playing along this week.

A head torch hey? Very stylish indeed.

Hope you finish up soon so you can get back to those sticks. And so we can all see what you are working on as well :)

Tracey said...

wow i'm first how did that happen? I have a headlamp too, well it's fox's but I use it for late night crafting. Glad I'm not the only one.

Headtorches are all the rage! You must look super hot with that on. I'll keep that from my husband or he may be jealous I don't have one. :)

Chasing Purple Dreams said...

Ooh what a beautiful picture you must make, at the end of the day with your head torch on!! That’s dedication for you!

Kate said...

Oh yeah, I'm a head torch crafter too. I love how 'normal' bogging makes me feel.

littlebetty said...

Head torch, now I bet that's not an item in every creative space...

Liesl (Hoppo Bumpo) said...

Doesn't everyone craft by head torch? An invaluable piece of equipment!!

Jennie said...

Very handy to have a handsfree tool!

handmadehappiness said...

sorry kirsty i took up 2 spaces can we blame it on me being new..... sorry :] x

Michelle said...

Ahead torch! Brilliant! I may have to try that as my husband hates having overhead lights on (he's such a part pooper)

Brenda said...

Head torch sounds like a great idea but I don't think it would work at my house.... because then all the bugs which find their way into our house of an evening would be on my head!! Ahhhh!!!

Tweed Delights said...

Ooooh, I must try my 'hubby's' headtorch - the kids are usually using it for something ridiculous!! :D

Luisa @ Dance in my garden said...

I'm just wondering what you are making?!

Kylie said...

The mental picture of your headtorch is very professional indeed... I'm thinking Zoolander in the mines ;) Kx

Polly said...

I'm looking forward to seeing what you've been working on! :) xx

Rosalind said...

I love that shade of green wool below!!! hmmm I mustn't be too serious no head lamp here :-)

The colour of the yarn you are knitting with is lovely! I'm wondering what you are stitching now. : )

Thongbai Tatong said...

Have fun and good luck with the stitching, Kristy. And thank you so much for the space to share our creative spaces.

Deece said...

A headlamp. Nice. It took me a while to figure out what a headtorch was, but I remembered a show I saw recently that referred to what we call flashlights as torches.

This is my first time joining in the creative space fun. Thank you for this.

gwen said...

I am very curious as to what you're up to here. and i've been inspired by your forays into thread and yarn lately. it's not my strong suit but you make it look not completely impossible ;]

74 Lime Lane said...

Yet another mystery in your space Kirsty. On the other hand, all the mysteries at our house have been fixed ~ we have internet AND you should be able to see the site now!

Tania said...

It's a whole lot more geeky at our house. The Mr really needs to go and get his eyes checked but reckons he hasn't the time. Instead he borrowed a terrifying piece of headgear that functions as gigantic magnifying goggles. We make a lovely couple what with me in the headtorch welded to the cycling helmet. Ahem.

Cath @ chunkychooky said...

Our spaces are similar this week... what with the squiggley embroidery...

Sarah said...

Now, that's dedication for you!!

Mel said...

Oh so that's why my eye sight is so crap! I've been doing all this bloody stiching/knitting/crochet by the very dim (yet ambient) light of my lounge room lamp!

katiecrackernuts said...

Oh, a headtorch. Of course. Der. How inspired. Thanks for that.

Melanie said...

Second time lucky on my linking/posting today. Getting used to a Mac!

Can you get 'daylight' bulbs for headtorches?! It's a very good idea :)

Kirsten said...

I'm gobsmacked. It seems so obvious now that you've said it. I have tried so many things for the right night light and I think you've given me the holy grail!
I'll just have to remember not to have any serious conversations whilst crafting late at night...

Chicken Willow said...

Great idea!

Yana said...

looking forward to seeing the finished product :)

Violet and Rose said...

A head torch. Now that is something that I could seriously use. Perhaps I could ask for one for Mother's Day. My Mother's Day presents ussually come from Bunnings because that is the only shop my husband knows!

gret said...

Oh that is hilarious. Crafting by head torch is totally something I would do! :)

Megan said...

that is dedication to stitching!

Collecting Feathers said...

Doh, why didn't I ever think of the head torch. That idea should win an award for its elegance. Maybe I can put off getting those glasses if I have a good light to see by. xxNick

It is my first time on your list of "My Creative Space". Have been checking them out for a while now and then thought "Hey, why not join in!!" I often leave feeling very inspired by what everyone else is up to.
By the way, where does one get a crafting headlamp from? I may be requesting one of these for Mothers Day as well.

Deb said...

Sorry I linked to the wrong week! It's my first visit to your blog, but I kept seeing "my creative space" on the net and had to join the fun! thanks xxx

lisa stubbs said...

Head torch! wow, hardcore crafting! love it!

Cotton Kiwi said...

Oh I wish I had a Great Aunt to teach me how to knit properly! I am sure my method is completely wrong but it's how I've learnt from books so sticking with it until I can find me an Aunty to adopt! The head torch sounds great. Suspect my other half would either steal it or threaten to leave me on grounds of mental instability if I started sporting one for late night knitting sessions! Thanks for hosting such a great space once again.

Mira Narnie said...

don't you love craft hopping! I can't seem to stick to one thing either - so i have unfinished items scattered about!

Hi Kirsty
LOVE your creative space list!
Is you head torch the same as my son's dinosaur one that roars when you turn it on?
Cheers

Great mental images of a furiously working crafter wearing a headtorch...brilliant. Good on you for learning to knit 'right'. My G'ma never had the patience with me hehe

I don't know what a headtorch is but I think I might need one!

Baa-Me Kniits said...

What a great Idea!!! I just asked for a new one to use when feeding my horses (its impossible to negotiate gates and feed bins and horses with a hand held torch)....maybe I should keep in inside, my hubby already thinks I am weird ;-)

I enjoyed your embroidery ironing tutorial. It's always helpful to know the tricks behind the crafting magic! And I loved the result - totally original! Wendy xx

Uh oh, I'm just popping in to say I left my link to your last week's post by mistake yesterday. My own schedule is so messed up that I didn't notice my mistake until later so now it is in two places on your blog. Sorry about that!

Lauren said...

Oh how exciting!! Green in your last post! I've been considering the head torch for crafting at night. Its got to beat the lamp pointed at my face, huh?

Carolyn said...

Can't wait to see what your making. I've got a bendable floor-torch. It so bright, in the winter everyone wants to get under it.

Liam's Mummy said...

A head torch sounds very serious... you just reminded me of the cleavage light http://badskirt.blogspot.com/2009/09/bring-tool-please.html (it's scary, the things I remember) Good lighting is always very important!

Pam said...

Dare I ask what a head torch is?? Obviously a light, but....... :)

Ahh ok, have just looked at some of the other comments, and I think I've figured out that it's a light that you wear on your head! Huh! How clever are I then!!? lol. ;)

Great idea! Thank you.

Oh I am so glad to be in such fine headlamp wearing company...every time I pop it on the word *spelunking* rolls around and around in my noggin! Extreme adventure embroidering!

Sarah said...

Head torches..Oh yes, many memories of wearing these in the dark backstage. Although my particular favourite is the bite light, especially the hilarity that ensues during a quick change when the bite light is in the wrong way - couldn't see a thing but my mouth was a lovely glowing shade of pink!!!

Muriël said...

A head torch is a great idea!! That will give you so much more crafting time!

Star of the East said...

Headtorches and other kind of interesting tools we use while creating is always a funny detail.

Crikey Kirsty! I'm number 141 for the day so far.
I've just been struggling with some embroidery on the couch. I think I should invest in a head lamp before I send myself blind.

Alterity Button Jewelry said...

This is my second week of playing along. I am so glad you discovered this idea....it's a great break from regular programming on my blog! I hope you keep this up for a long time and plan to play every week! by the way, I found you through Artmind's blog!

My goodness, Kirst - you're a popular girl! Number 144....

TopCat76 said...

A headlamp? Really? Well if you say so!

A head torch? As in a camping, going hiking in the middle of the night, must check out the glow worm cave type head torch? What a brilliant idea!

sabahnur said...

you inspring me to start stitching:)

Kylie said...

Headlamps good, as long as they are not involved in camping which involves sleeping on hard cold ground...hmmmmm

Buy Design said...

We used to play with my dad's pit helmet which had a torch on the front. I wonder if it is still at the back of the garage with all the other useful stuff.
I think you may have given me an idea. hmmmm

Olivia said...

A head torch is such a great idea! I'm going to have to try it.

Polka Dot Daze said...

LOL I thought you meant the sticks as in camping, hence the head torch.
You are HARD CORE!
Any particular brand of head torch you can recommend :)
