My creative space...

Red Dust

Such a lot of creating going on in my head lately but not so much with the hands. I'm hoping that this little experiment comes off. I'll be able to justify my crazy crafty happy dancing about it if it does.

The head creating is mainly about all things quilty. I got my copy of Fat Quarterly yesterday & let me tell you that little ezine(actually rather large - a huge 78 pages of goodness) has really got the mind ticking. Have you purchased Fat Quarterly? My favourite project was of course Kate's business shirt quilt. She gets two ticks from me on that one. Firstly because she's ace & secondly because of the reusing bizzo.

The new commenting system worked pretty well I think. I used the random number generator & asked for 60 numbers. It spat them out & I had a lovely time leap frogging around the list.

One of my favourite lily pads from last week was this one. I love her desk.

In the news: It's Cam's birthday today. She's one of the very first creative space players. Have a happy day Cam.

Don't forget to pop in & add your link if you're playing along this week.

Hope the stuff your creating in your head gets to your hands soon :)

Definitely thinking about getting Fat Quarterly... :)

A quilt out of biz shirts sounds really interesting.

OK - now I'm curious as to what you are going to make!

Love the colour of that red. Is it powdered dye? I'm glad it's not just me that does crazy crafty happy dances! Thanks for hosting another creative space. I love Thursdays despite the fact I have a numb bum and coffee shakes at the end of it from all the sitting and browsing the other creative spaces!

Renee said...

Hmm looks interesting. Looking forward to seeing the result of your experiment. I understand the lots of creating inside your head. It's so hard to stop thinking of crafting!

At first I thought that was powdered pigment in you photo, but on closer inspection it’s too grainy. I wonder what it is and what your up to now, whatever it is I am sure it will be a raging success and well worth a happy dance!!!

Christina said...

Ooooh, I have no idea what the red stuff is and I can't wait to find out! :)

I compleletely loved that little graffitti cartoon desk too last week, it was my fave as well. The little red bits...reminds me of pollen or those lovely photos you see of Indian fabric dyers pigments...I am curious :o)

I have no idea what you are up to but I hope that it works out exactly as you like :-) Thanks for sharing you favourite space of last week, I loved the desk graffiti.

I'm just thrilled that you like my little old business shirt quilt!

Can't wait to see what your ticking turns into x

PS: You are my only one today, scaling back ;)

Hmmm, felting/fuzzy fabric type offcuts... intriguing!!

Kate said...

Even reading and commenting on 60 blogs sounds like an enormous project. Hope you get to do that happy dance soon.

Mandy said...

oh this sounds like fun! I pick random each time too. So many to read, that it is impossible lately as there are so many participants!

dillpickle said...

Mmmm, fuzzy redness! Sounds interesting!

I have so much trouble getting the things in my head out into the hands, mainly because my time management is a tad worse for wear, but having lots of stuff flying about in there can be exhausting! Good luck with getting yours out.

Hello kirsty and a really big thanks for your comment on my wardrobe last week, hope you like this weeks, although it's not my own studio space, photos are taken in Dublin's national college of art and design.
I really had a great two weeks doing this course, it;s so refreshing to do something outside your normal sphere of medium.....your red dye? looks very interesting she says stroking her chin in wonderment

Sally said...

I totally understand creating in the mind... but if only there were more hours in the day so we could actually make more a reality!!!
You continually amaze me with how much you achieve... and then visiting 60 blogs too... wow - how do you do it?
Thanks so much for hosting my creative space - a real highlight of my week.

CurlyPops said...

I never have any doubt you will produce something interesting Kirsty...it's so much fun having so many ideas in your head, but sometimes not so much fun when you can't sleep because of it! Have a great day.

Kirsty I love your experimenting!! It's half the fun of being creative... the other half is a successful experiment... hehe

Another mystery! Thanks for hosting Kirsty, you do an amazing job.
I've seen a lot of buzz about the zine. I always feel a little chaotic when the ideas are jumbled in the head and I can't quite get them out.

Nycole said...

I'm intrigued as always. Thanks for the Fat Quarterly link, I might have to grab a copy...

Selina said...

Sounds fun, I love the ideas-a-brewing stage. Loved that desk from last week too!

angelique said...

I am going to go and have a look at the Fat quarterly right now. I like the idea of the ezine as sometimes things don't turn up here if ordered. But my red square did. Thank you Kirsty!

Kirsten said...

I thought dye too...then I looked closer and it looks like the stuff that is shed from the bottom of old pieces of "little" furniture (lamps, jewellery boxes etc) - which I'm presuming was felt.
Hmmmmm
What on earth are you up to?

Jan Allsopp said...

I think you've sold me on Fat Quarterly. I've posted my space today - only my 2nd time. Seems consistency is not my strong point!

julie k said...

Ok, I have NO idea what you are trying to do, but the color is grand!

Wendy said...

Thanks for hosting again, Kirsty! You've piqued my curiosity...can't wait to see what you're up to!

Riches Stitches said...

I am curious to see what your little pile of red is supposed to be, and I know what you mean about the creating that happens in your head. I have been doing a lot of that lately myself but am finding it hard to get the time to make it into reality.
