My creative space…

October 14, 2010 57 Comments by Kirsty

Mucking around with pencil & paper in a bit of down time from the hook. Doodling, writing, scribbling & trying to figure out how to make my homework look semi decent. I’m not at all comfortable with the pencils.  ARGH!

Do pop in & add your link if you’re playing along this week.

I find it amazing you don't love the pencils, I thought tht inner planner would enjoy that – see you learn something new. Can't wait to see.

Your lovely pic reminded me of Victoria’s necklace too. Something so beautiful and strangely comforting about pencil shavings.

i have to disagree. i love pencil. i love the softness of it, the variability. i amuse people at work all the time for my tendency to write everything in pencil.

and thanks, as always, for hosting such a fabulous meme!

Ah — I've also been pushing my boundaries with what I'm comfortable with craft wise, and it's been a bit challenging, but good. Nice exercise for the ol' brain, I figure.

    Wonder what you're drawing?

You are such a creative soul, there must be some cool things waiting to be done with a pencil. Lots of pencil play helps : )

Great photo Kirsty! The more time you spend with the pencil in your hand the more natural it will feel. Try not to critiscise your doodling and scribbling. Remember it is all part of the learning process and it is all valid. Keep it up :)

I'm studying drafting and am moving onto drawing with pencils next year and feel a little nervous. I have to build up on my relationship with those "leads", but will be fun. Always love a challenge. Have a great creative day. Can't wait to see what you produce.

The thing with drawing is that it is a skill that you have to keep up or you loose it. I am in desperate need of some drawing practice, I haven't done any since my life drawing classes at uni.

It surprises me that such a creative person like yourself does not like pencils!!!

I love pencils… good quality pencils… I love the feel of how they glide across the paper as you write/sketch… good quality stock to glide across also make a big difference.

    Enjoy your doodling.

You may not love pencils but that little curl of shavings is so well captured it takes me back to the first day of school with fresh new supplies.

Oh and your aunt's hands (from yesterday) are some of the most lovely, elegant hands I've ever seen ;)

I love the ritual of sharpening pencils, perhaps more than I love drawing with them. I managed to misplace all of my (3) tech pencils several months ago and am using old school pencils until they turn up – it makes a nice change.

I love pencils but hopeless with them. Only really got hooked on pencils when I had my boys, we have heaps of pencils, I seem to prefer them to pens even for shopping lists now. (!) Sad little think that I am! Have fun playing, and thanks again for hosting.
