Crochet blanket…

July 19, 2011 51 Comments by Kirsty

with high level “squish factor”.

I totally chose to make this blanket because I had never seen anything like it & 7 Day Afghans promised it was quickest of quick.

It did take me more than 7 days…you could make it in 7 days though (if all you did was sit & hook 24/7). Best design feature is of course, the fringing. Only 1/2 as many ends to weave in!

The blanket is very weighty but still has a most excellent drape. I’m absolutely thrilled with this little number & think it will become a regular gifting project. I already have a request from The Big Girl for one of her very own.

Of course I like the reverse side better than the intended front. I’m really liking the vintage picnic vibe it’s got going on.

I have to make one myself..
I found three versions of “7 day Afghans”
-could you tell me which one your pattern is from?

(there were updated versions from 1985, 1990 or 2006 by Leinhauser&Weiss)

        THANKS, Kristy! :)

Oh, wow! I was just talking to my mum today about how I am sick of seeing granny squares(nothing wrong with them mind you, just longing for more diversity) I was kind of saying there is so much more to crochet and here’s my proof!! This is soooo beautiful and I agree, really vintage looking. I love the colours you have chosen too…and less ends to weave in sounds awesome…thanks for sharing and inspiring. xo Kate

I always like the wrong side best. Except for the wrong side of MY blasted shag pile granny blanket. Yours is the bees knees, Kirst. And it matches your garden (although maybe not the gate?) beautifully.

Wow! This is beautiful! Which crochet blanket is it in the 7 Day Afghans book? I just got the book from the library, and have decided that this is my next crochet project! Also, just out of curiosity, what yarn did you use? The squish factor is enticing… :)

it so conjures a memory of angular and crisp tartan plaid on a a metal gallon jug themos my grandmother always filled with sweetened hot tea to bring to the beach when I was a small child and lived with her..And for this reason I too prefer the unintended better side <3
