I know there is some question as to whether The Pav originated in Australia or New Zealand. Regardless of which country is the rightful owner, the dessert has become an iconic Australian sweet & features at just about every suburban BBQ this time of year.

So…I thought it most appropriate as my photograph for the Canon Island challenge this week. You can vote for the image that takes your fancy right here if you feel so inclined.

I also thought that you might get a kick out of the set up too … nothing spontaneous about this shot.

Baked beans…almost as iconic as the pav.

You can’t get more true blue than that. I bet that’s the first time anyone has paired baked beans and pav, even in these weird gastronomic times.

Fabulous image – I voted for you! For me, it was between you and Pip, but I loved what you did with your image – it really made me smile.

And as a Taswegian, can I just say thanks for not missing us off the map! We do like that kind of thing (almost as much as we like pavlova) :)

An egg white and sugar map. Pure genius.

Right, I’m doing a kind of online sharing Baking Cookbook thingy this week. Is it OK if I link to this?

This is one of the most fabulous pavs EVER…you should make another for Australia Day.

    Just brilliant!

And…if you don’t win the category for that Pav….there is something seriously wrong.

Totally impressed by the shaping on the pav. Did you have to trim at all, or did it just come out so perfect? Inspiring – thank you!
