Giant steps | a(nother) neckwarmer…

July 12, 2012 12 Comments by Kirsty

I spent most of this week with a hook in hand and I managed to get a number of “made with love” presents hooked up. My sister has been eyeing off the cowl neck warmer thingy for some time now so I made her one.

Hers is more delicate than the smashed avocado because she’s kind of a delicate person. I increased the air to stitch ratio. I’ve gone for a more even spread of air and stitches.

All this is very technical isn’t it? The facts are…

Yarn: Sublime Chunky Merino Tweed
Hook: 9mm

Chain 52 (or there abouts) slip stitch to join.

Round 1
Chain 3 to act as first treble.
*Treble into next chain stitch.
Chain 1 skip 1 chain*
Repeat for remainder of round.
Slip stitch to join.

Round 2
Chain 4 to act as first treble & chain 1.
*Treble into chain 1 space below.
Chain 1*
Repeat for remainder of round.
Slip stitch to join.

Round 3
Chain 3 to act as first treble.
*Treble into chain 1 space below.
Chain 1*
Repeat for remainder of round.
Slip stitch to join.

REPEAT Rounds 2 & 3 until you’re satisfied with the look & squidge.

That is delicious yarn, and what a great sister you are making a cowl for your sister! And I’ve said it before, but I really do need to learn to crochet.

I love that close up of the stitches with the flecks of colour.
I love seeing what you are up to in your creative space again.
I’ve found a bag of that wilderness wool. I’ll text you the details.
I’m so tempted to play MCS today but there is no light to speak of bloody winter. x

I Love the yarn you used, the flecks just go brilliantly with the black and lift it from being well just black. GOrgeous cowl too xo
