My creative space…

July 5, 2012 8 Comments by Kirsty

I’m feeling like I can do no more with the house…So I have turned my attention to the next folio. I’ve got a few ideas kicking around and one of them involves a double depth of field. Originally inspired by the bouquet at this wedding shot by Tim Coulson. I think I’m going to try to make a 3D bouquet using 2D pics…photograph and then make the resulting 2D pic appear 3D…clear? as mud?

I guess we’ll see where that takes me but it’s been fun to muck around with the idea. I think I’m going to start a “big book of ideas” to harness these little flashes that I have on the run (and then promptly forget). You can read a bit more about the beginnings of this plan over here (as well as seeing lots of other creative spaces too).

It really is just beautiful. The flower, so vivid and romantic against the blurred urban background. Really, really good shot.

i really like this idea. i too have a space where I put all of those ah-ha snippets… it’s amazing how they disappear if you don’t write them down somewhere! x

I need one of those books too! So many project ideas, so little time! As for your experimenting- I have an old rolleicord camera that works but film costs and processing is so expensive I have taken to setting it up and then using my digital slr to take photos of the rolleicord view finder.. Not the same as your idea, just reminded me of it. The outcomes were quite cool!

I so love this! Tutorial please, clever lady :)

p.s went in search of (and found) said bouquet over at Tim’s …then cried when I read Kesh’s birth story (as told by Tim).
