She got the magic quill yesterday & now has to wait for her invite to the Beta site…sometime between now & October(!!) when it opens to the world. The big girl & her mates were refreshing their screens pretty much all day yesterday. When she ventured away from her desk, I hit refresh for her.

I hate to disappoint & it seems I’ve been doing it a bit lately…I’ve been disappointing one of my very favourite real life people.

She says she likes something new each day…
She says she likes to have a cup of tea & read the paper online & kootoyoo too…
She says she’ll check out the road tripping foxies (I’ve told her she’ll love Kate) but…
She says she’d like it to be me…

I’ll try for one a day this week Boo – I love you. x

Did you know I’m the mother of a teenager?

It’s a tricky time isn’t it?  I remember it well … thinking that I was totally alone & that my mother couldn’t possibly understand.

It’s true I know, I’m old & annoying & disconnected from the experiences of a teenager today but it really truly feels like ground hog day around here … it could be me.

I feel like it was yesterday … raw & real & very fresh in my mind.

I’m mucking around with stop motion … perhaps not quite as old & out of touch as I seem?

Edited to add: The big girl is fabulous. She’s not at all an angsty, stressed out teenager (yet?) but I’ve been thinking a lot about it & I’m working on something for school. Sorry if I came over all ARGHish. I’m not…we’re not. x

Just look what the big girl made for her tiny cousin!

I can’t believe how beautifully it’s come up.

She was reluctant to try something new but once she started playing around with the fabric it came together very quickly.

All about the speed she certainly wasn’t interested in the quilting so that was outsourced (to me).

She’s enormously proud of it so I think the next one will be quilted entirely “in house”.

Much as I love the school holidays & having the kids around full time & wish that I had the patience to be a homeschoolingcountrylivinglowfi mama, I do need routine. It keeps me on track.

I’m soaking up the last few days of kidness & hoping the return to school & life might signal the return of my creative me.

What a lovely “welcome back” I received. Thank you all for your keen support.

The big girl has some vile gastric thing. She’s small & thin & really can’t afford a couple of days off the tooth. I’m crossing everything that the rest of us don’t fall like flies.

The mattress has been dragged downstairs, off the carpet & in front of the Teev.  It’s just the way things roll in our house.  You get sick & you move to the family room…a hangover from when I was a kid.  I think a mattress on the floor is much more comfy than the sweaty brown vinyl couch I enjoyed as a kid.

Buddy sleeps on his own dog bed…always.  BUT a comfy bed on the floor was simply too much for him to resist & I thought he looked so gorgeous so I left him.

Hoping she’s back to her normal self quick sticks as she has quite a lovely crafty plan.
