Little treasures…

piadip3

Lovely Pia is trying to publish Little Treasures : made by hand. This beautiful publication is a record of the items made by hand for Pia’s daughter (who will be one on Valentine’s Day). Pia is so close to her target and there are only a couple of days left to make a pledge. Can you help out? There are some beautiful rewards to choose from if you do choose to support the project.

We all know I’m a sentimental fool and of course I love the “made by hand”. But there’s another reason I really want to see Little Treasures published…something I made is going to be in it!

See that little tin can music box in the spread above? I made it! I still consider those music boxes one of my greatest handmade achievements.

Pia’s pozible is right here.

Her Creative Space | Nic @ Yardage Design…

Last week I paid Nic a visit at her gorgeous Abbotsford Convent Studio. We chatted for ages about My Creative Space “back in the day” and shared our lovely memories of The Quilt Project too.

I was reminded of the joy that kootoyoo has brought me…the wonderful connections I’ve made…the lifelong mates…the gentle shaping of “me”.

I’m grateful to Nic and to you all for continuing to support me & kootoyoo too.

Tour Nic’s studio virtually right here or live on site tomorrow. Grab those details here.

You can see more creative spaces here.

The Design Files Open House…

I managed to wangle myself an invite to the preview of The Design Files Open House V2012.

As expected the house was a perfect balance of the favourites and friends of The Design Files as well as a few beautiful surprises as well.

My very favourite items were the Made by Mosey feather garlands as pictured, some really beautiful glass rings by Sarah Dingwell and of course the Lucas Grogan goodness.

There was no buying today but I’m going to try to get back over the weekend to snap myself up some goodies.

Thanks for having me Lucy.

You can check out #TDFopenhouse on instagram too.

My creative space…

I’m not a quilter…of any sort.

I’ve banged on before about my inability to make decisions about colour.  Quilts seem to me to be all about colour & then they go & throw pattern into the mix…yikes.

I like a quilt that is unexpected & my very favourite maker of unexpected quilts is Kate.  She has a flair for both colour & pattern.  Her choices are always surprising & delightful…just as a quilt should be in my opinion.

Lovely Kate has put together a beautiful modern quilt pattern which made me want to have a crack.  Her own version is the perfect mix of fabrics which makes it look much more casually thrown together than it actually is.

It was with great enthusiasm that I hacked into the collection of pink pillowcases & I’m chuffed with the result (so far).

The quilt pattern is written in a friendly, you can do it style & I found it super easy to follow.  I’ve made up all my blocks & chopped them up.  Now I need to arrange & rearrange to get just the right amount of “unexpected”.

You can pick up your very own one flew over quilt pattern here.

Do pop in & add your link if you’re playing along this week.

Mixing it up…

I have finally made the move from Blogger to WordPress. I’ve been going to do it for more than 12 months & then … well you know how life gets in the way. Tech support went & had himself a baby & a renovation. Quite rightly he’s been much more concerned with his little family than growing up kootoyoo.

After we’d had a couple of sort-of-meetings-sort-of-sipping-tea-and-surfing sessions, we decided to outsource. We did some research and found the Blogger to WordPress migration service. The Blogger to WordPress team successfully carried out the migration of my blog. One of the key features of their migration was that you never lose the search engine rank. They also added all my widgets from Blogger to WordPress and made my site live without any down-time. They were not only friendly and very responsive, but very professional as well.  I thought you guys might appreciate the A+ grade & my hearty recommendation if ever you’re considering a move.

Pop in & have a poke around at the new place. I think it’s lovely & fresh & very grown up. The homepage is particularly exciting I think

I’m hoping it’s going to be nice & social too. The inline commenting is something I’m most excited about & the fact that I can click right over to your space & get emails from your email & people are rewarded for commenting &, &, & (it’s early days but I’m sure there’s so much more).

PS:  If you still have very old links to the blogspot perhaps I could trouble you to update your links?
