Gasp…more making!

Anyone would think kootoyoo had returned to it’s roots, rediscovered it’s crafty self. If you’re on instagram you might know that we splurged and shouted ourselves a new sofa for Christmas. It’s a deliciously comfortable and rather large piece that was in desperate need of a few cushions. I’ve dragged out the Janome and set it up on the bench in the hallway. Yep, I’m sewing standing up…no time for any of that relaxed type making I’ve got further crafty plans to hatch.

Are you making anything at the moment? OR are you in holiday mode?

It’s all about trouble shooting today.

I had a major fail with the coffee sack & crochet project. The open weave wasn’t standing up at all well to being manipulated by my hands & having the crochet hook shoved & dragged through the fibres. The sack was literally falling apart in my hands.

I was given some sage advice last year … “When things aren’t going right, step away & do something you know you’ll be successful at”.   I did – I went for a run. I’ve realised that I need to keep the weave disturbance to an absolute minimum & am now stabilising like a demon.

I think I’ve got it sorted now. I’d just like to say to any & all who’ve been disparaging about my 15 year old bottom of the range Janome … neither the machine nor it’s driver is the least bit fearful of hessian.

I was gifted a couple of coffee sacks by my local.

Just mucking around really & seeing what works. I figured out on the run this morning that crochet was the way to go as it will eliminate the need for exact measurements & I’ll avoid having to drag my long length of thread through the hession.

Anyway, so far so good. I’m always going to be happy with red & red on the natural is quite gorgeous methinks.

The decs are popping up all over the place & I’m making some too.

Strips of Liberty at the ready… festive but not too Christmassy so we’ll be able to enjoy them all year round.

This is going to be the last Creative Space for 2010.  We will fire up again late Jan or early Feb. Take a break from the making…if you like…or don’t…but do put your feet up and enjoy some time with your loved ones. Thank you all for making Thursdays such a lovely community day…you’re ace!

I had a lovely busy weekend…on the hook, on the lino, on the click, in the kitchen & with my family.

There was also a minor (but controlled) adventure with fire.
