Coffee time…

Yes it’s true I’ve done this before (& perhaps with more style).

But, after the recent footstool & stool adventures I’ve had coffee sack craft on the brain. I really got a kick out of combining the sack & the ground coffee. The clock was constructed in exactly the same way as the Flocked Tick Tock.

It’s always coffee time at our place.

I’m planning on making a couple of clocks for the lovely cafe folk who’ve kindly saved the very best coffee sacks for me.

It does need a bit of refining but overall I’m pretty happy with the prototype & shall pick up a couple more clock mechanisms next week.

Happy weekend all.

Lawn chair…

lawn chair

…the Rummage household is home to a number of these chairs.  They are scattered around the garden & they make the place feel relaxed.

…there’s a building in South Melbourne with a living wall that I absolutely LOVE…I guess I could site that as my inspiration.

…my Grandparents would probably have had a pair of these in the boot of the car to take to the polo. They did have lawn chairs like these which were also on the mind “mood board” along with the book “The Plant Sitter”.

All this nonsense has combined to make my Lawn Chair.

I picked a chair up recently & had a plan to hook a flashy new “canvas” for it. But really this is just so much better than I ever could have hoped for.

I’ve already purchased another chair (& a sunbed too) so that I can give them the same treatment.

I will pretend that I was lucky enough to pick them up at the Sunday Trash & Treasure for $5 a chair!

Other lawny type furniture…

Super cool (& super exxy) here

Further adventures…

with the coffee sack, the hook, the machine & me.

I’m taking my own “have a crack” advice & have listed it in the sometimes shop.

If green isn’t quite your thing I’m happy to make to order. Just drop me an email (in the sidebar or the drop down at the top of the page) & we can work together to make one just for you.

Handmade laptop stand…

Laptop Stand

I fashioned this laptop stand out of bits & pieces I had lying around at home. The only things I had to buy for this project were two small hinges.

It’s craft born out of necessity.

When we moved I cut an old table in half lengthways to make a slimline desk. Unfortunately my laptop & keyboard didn’t fit properly on the desk so I was typing & reading at a really awkward (& uncomfortable) angle.

My brother has one of those store bought laptop stands so I rang him to find out where to buy one & went to the shop. I was horrified that this little piece of plastic was going to set me back around $80! In addition the sales person was extremely unhelpful so I huffed out of the shop determined to make one for myself.

I think practical things might as well also be beautiful. I’ve done a bit of embroidery to pretty things up & because I was unsure if my HAC would stand up to holding the laptop I didn’t want my efforts to be in vain…

Book Stand

it’s also a cookbook stand. Featuring the fabulous Minus the Boombah cookbook as recommended by Aunty Cookie.

Are you a Gambler?…

The Gambler Series
Copyright December 09…Kirsty Macafee

If you only know me on the blog you’d be forgiven for thinking that I’m not much for the words. My posts here are short & sharp, but in real life there’s a lot of chat, both out loud & internal. I think about words a lot. They are important. I try to choose my own words carefully (& consider the impact they have on others).

I really truly think that The Gambler is one of life’s true ACES. “Every hand’s a winner & every hand’s a loser”.

So after my fold post last week I set about making the series. I really enjoyed the relationship between the house of cards & the lyrics & the whole life’s a balancing act thing. Now there’s “an ace that I could keep”.

I’m pretty confident that these’ll be a hit over here & here too.

They now hang as posters over the kitchen.
