Washi tape tealights…

Just perfect for the present cupboard or school fairs don’t you think? I think these babies have broad appeal…not just for those of us who love the handmade aesthetic! This makes them a fabulous project if you need to make in quantity.

The glasses were picked up at the op shop for 50cents each and a roll of washi tape goes a long way. Hooray for that I say. I think these would be gorgeous as centre pieces for a wedding.

You don’t need a tutorial for this – it’s dead easy. Wrap & stick!

Pip linked us up with a tute for washi tape storage jars & I got all excited about washi tape tea light holders.

Life on hold…

The Date & I have been glued to the teev…watching all five seasons of Friday Night Lights.

I made this little print for Pip because she knew I’d love the show & she was so right.

I have a very unhealthy teenager type crush on Tim Riggins.

If you haven’t jumped on this band wagon it’s really truly time you did. Just so good!

A shift in focus…

vintage clicks

Ever so slightly things have been changing around here.

I’ve kept it on the hush because it seemed unrelated to the craft but now I realise that it’s ALL about the craft. I’m different now. I’m being creatively sustained by the click stuff & by the plans I make on the run. Don’t get me wrong I’m still loving the making but it’s just seeming to be more about quiet moments of nothingness. I’m hatching fewer crafty plans than I have for a long time.

You may or may not have noticed that the blog was broken last week. Instead of being concerned, I actually felt relieved!

I seriously considered not coming back to this space but then I thought about why I started it in the first place & I felt a little sad that if my kids do chance upon the blog when I’m long gone that they won’t really know what was feeding my soul in May 2011.

So here it is…

the date – the constant, my very best friend & owner of my heart
my big girl – on the brink of so much more
the little guy – with a giant heart & so good to his mum
the curly girl – cheeky & full of fun
the family
the run
the click
& in moments of quiet … the craft.

“what has been seen cannot be unseen”

So, this space will be more about what’s inspiring me, what I’m looking at, what I’m thinking about & much less about the output.

I understand if you’re done with kootoyoo… (I felt like being done with it too). But if you’re still around when I blow in next…thank you.

Treasure from the weekend…

20110404_1003

We had a busy weekend jam packed full of kid activity.

I did manage to sneak myself a few minutes in a little antiquey when I went for coffees on Saturday morning & just look what I picked up.

These magnificent learning aids were made by Mary Norman Bail. She calls them the Pathfinder Series in her Playway System. I picked up three sets. All hand cut, hand drawn & assembled in cigarette boxes so that when you close the lid and flip them over they reveal a hand drawn puzzle on the reverse. I guess this is so that children can self check…brilliant.

& then this clever girl sent me on a clicketty trip to this piece of genius which I’ve been thinking about all weekend. It might be food for thought for you too.

Footy is back in full swing & I watched my vertically challenged but determined little guy play back to back games. He’s small in his own age group so you can imagine the difference when he’s playing up a division. Fearless & flat out.

It’s all about heart really … & I’m taking notes!

Pinched on the run…

It was overhanging the pavement but I confess I had to scale the fence to reach it.

Totally worth it though. Fig & Mozzarella is a marriage made in heaven!

Hoping your weekend was fabulous.
