It’s really just a question of taste…

wrapped lampshade | #mycreativespace

I’m not sure about this one at all.

I began enthusiastically, wrapped a few rounds and then stepped back. The thing looked absolutely ghastly! I’ve persevered and now it’s done I kind of like it from a distance and the smalls think it looks great. I’m yet to be convinced. I need to sit with it a couple of days I think.

I don’t have enough of the spool knitted cord to cover the other arm of the lamp so if I do decide I can live with it I’ve no idea what to do with it’s twin. I guess I could scour the Op Shop for more beastly yarn but really…would you?

I dunno…thoughts on this one most welcome.

And another thing…

I spent some time with lovely Lamina a couple of weeks ago. Check that out here.

Magnetic hanging system…

So high tech aren’t I?

It’s just a row of magnetic tape nailed to the office wall. Completely out of character I did actually use a spirit level as I nailed along the length of tape. AND did you know there’s an app for that? Brilliant!

I thought maybe some of you might find this kind of thing just the ticket for use as an inspiration wall or maybe the kids’ artwork or something else entirely.

The magnetic tape was purchased some time ago…do you remember when I made the Liberty Pin Cuffs? OR do you remember when I actually made anything at all? Ha…it’s been a while! Those pin cuffs are truly vintage Koo.

Today I’m banging on about watching movies and making stuff. The Date’s out again today…so you know that’s more of the good stuff on the teev for me while I work. I’m also asking questions about being brave with the making right here.

Drowning not waving…

Today I chatted about #amonthof #mycreativespace on Village Voices and I chatted about The White House on JustB.

Today I had to go out for more drop sheets.

There had been more than a few white paint related accidents…a couple of foot prints on the timber flooring…I’m sporting a white streak on the bum of my favourite jeans…& today I had to have the white paint cut out of the fringe!

As with all things Koo (and DIY) – I’ve jumped right in. I’m kind of regretting it now as I absolutely don’t have time to finish up until Sunday! So…now the house looks like a bomb has gone off…just when I was starting to feel like I was a little under control…sigh.

What have you been up to on the creative front?

My Creative Space | the state of things…

I feel like I’ve been running around in circles for the last two weeks!

It’s a tragic state of affairs when a girl can’t keep up with her own blog let alone the other favourites around the place. I’ve been busily unpacking and arranging and rearranging and sorting storage and blah boring blah. I think that I might actually be getting somewhere.

At least the bones of the office/creative space are there and now I just need to finesse a la pinterest.

Did you notice the crochet chair & cabinet? The Date vowed that they WOULD NOT be crossing the threshold of the new bedroom. Luckily for him, there’s not room to swing a cat in the bedroom so I’ve happily recruited them to my side of the shared office.

I’m really looking forward to November! I’ve entered the month with a new (older & wiser) attitude. I am reconnecting with my creative self by way of #amonthof #mycreativespace which has kicked off today! Have you seen the activity on Twitter and Instagram? It’s been lovely being invited in to everyone’s creative spaces today. It’s matey & nice. I like it. AND…here’s a sentence I didn’t think I’d utter…

I like Facebook.
(yes I’ll wait while you pick yourself up off the the floor)

We’ve got a little #amonthof group over there which just feels like a lovely creative hug. Join in if you like – it’s here.

I wonder what the other creative spacers are up to today…let’s check that out here.

Tripod shelving…

Tripod storage

Our house was built to a budget. When It came to the fixtures we went with “bare minimum”. Who knew that meant you’d only get one towel rail in the bathroom? And such an expanse of plain white wall – we can’t have that!

I’ve been hanging my towel in the bedroom for far too long now &. The other day I made a trip to Bunnings and set to work refashioning my op shopped tripods into something more.

I just drilled a hole in the centre of some op shopped placemats to make the shelves and then secured them with a 1/4inch nut.   The towel hanger is of course an a broken film SLR which unsurprisingly required no DIY intervention by me.  I’d had that lying around since the camera lamp makings last year.

Just a bit of fun really.
