Life on hold…

The Date & I have been glued to the teev…watching all five seasons of Friday Night Lights.

I made this little print for Pip because she knew I’d love the show & she was so right.

I have a very unhealthy teenager type crush on Tim Riggins.

If you haven’t jumped on this band wagon it’s really truly time you did. Just so good!

A brilliant family day out…

This is NOT a sponsored post … we just had an absolutely fabulous time!!!

Just before Christmas the little guy & I were up at Shoppo. He spotted the crew from Segway Victoria & got all excited & asked if we could go.

So…we gave everyone the Segway adventure as a Christmas present. Today was the day…we all piled in the car & trucked out to Healesville. We had lunch at Rochford as part of the tour price and then the real fun began.

I can’t recommend the experience highly enough. Terry made sure that we had all watched (& properly understood) the safety video & then gave us further instruction out on the Segways. Once he was satisfied that we had the hang of it we headed off through the vineyards.

All five of us had a fabulous time. The little guy sites it as one of his best ever experiences, he is of course fearless & cornered the thing like it was on rails. Some of the group (yes me) were a little more sedate but still had an absolute ball.

If you’re looking for a great family day out and your kids are older…Segway Victoria is hard to top.

The Design Files Open House…

20111130_8067

If you are in Melbourne you should absolutely plan yourselves a little outing to Gertrude Street sometime in the next four days. You can check out all the lovely stores along Gertrude Street & then duck into Little Napier Street & take a tour of The Design Files Open House.

I was lucky enough to have a little wander through The Design Files Open House & I can tell you it is fabulous.

It was great to see many of Lucy’s favourite finds all in one place. I fell quite in love with so many things but my absolute favourites were the terrariums & the Loom Rug in the “kid space” (seriously in love with that thing). As you can see I tested it’s loungability & it rated very highly & just look at the delicious colour!

The team at The Design Files Open House have done an absolutely amazing job pulling the whole thing together.

The house is just a fabulous designery/artisan type through-the-wardrobe-moment…just magic.

Making Hey…

See that pic? That says a LOT about Pip Lincolne & what she means to me.

We’ve been mates for a while now…we picked each other up on the internet!

Pip’s been a terrific mate to me. She’s nostalgic, she’s encouraging, she’s enthusiastic, she’s generous with her praise, she’s got a have a crack attitude & she doesn’t have unrealistic expectations. These are all very good reasons to love the girl & all extremely good reasons to love her book “Make Hey while the Sun Shines“.

The book is beautifully styled, relaxed and friendly. The projects are simple & easily achieved if you’re a beginner or tweaked & reworked into something more if you’re not. And do you know what? Pip encourages this…she wants you to use the projects as a springboard. She wants you to lose yourself in the making & become a life long maker.

The best project in the book is, in my opinion, the friendly blankets for cosy couples. The project itself is a simple patchwork lap quilt. BUT it’s designed for best friends/cousins/couples so that it’s joined when you’re together & separated when you part. I LOVE this idea (as I said last week…I’m a sap). My smallest is extremely close to her cousin Sylvia & I’m going to make this for them.

Do you like my fabric selection? Yes, it’s that sheet we all had in the 70′s & I have it in blue & yellow too so I’m just deciding whether to make them in the same same but different sheets or to keep it Pretty in Pink. I KNOW Pip will approve of my fabric choice.

*You can pick up a copy of Pip’s book at your favourite book store – mine’s READINGS.
*You can listen to Pip chat at Readings St Kilda TOMORROW evening. But you need to book
